The mission of the USS Graynet and other ships of its class is to petrol Federation merchant lanes, to provide all manner of assisstance to Federation vessels both military and civilian, and to protect them from criminal elements.

They serve as the primary escort for convoys, and on a rotation basis provide escort for the few Ype S-4000 Starship Docks. They can also be assigned to supportfederation warships in the defense of the Federation.

Emergency equipment is contained in wall lockers which are located at various places on each deck. Items contained in each locker are a medkit, phaser II, tricorder, communicator and an envipomental suit.

SHIP'S ARMAMENT: 3 type 6 phasers and 1 photon torpedo launcher.

Deflector shield units are spaced at intervals around the ship's hull. Each can draw power instantaneously from the other units when they are impacted by high-energy sources suca as disruptor fire or photon torpedoes.
