![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The small Maquis Raider was first seen in the Star Trek, the Next Generation's season seven episode Preemptive Strike. It utilised the cockpit set of the standard alien shuttle, and had a crew of two: a pilot and flight operations. It has a cargo comparment amidships, with a transporter and replicator. A pair of bunks are often installed in this compartment for long duration missions. The aft compartment is the engineering bay. The M/ARA is similar to that installed in Starfleet's Danube class, but is mounted laterally inside the engineering bay for easy access. The aft-firing twin Photon Torpedo Launcher has a capacity of eight torpedoes. A pair of Type VI Phasers are mounted on the wingtips. The Ma'jel is manufactured by the same consortium which produces the larger Ju'day class Maquis Raider, which its exterior greatly resembles, though the Ma'jel has a smaller triangular cockpit module and is only 24 metres long as opposed to the Ju'day's 68.6 metre length. Just as the Ju'day class was named for Penny Juday, a DS9 staffer, I have named the smaller of the Maquis Raiders the Ma'jel class after Majel Barret Roddenberry, using the same style with the apostrophe after the first vowel. |
