CFB Greenwood is a large airbase in the heart of the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, just south of Kingston, Kings County. 14 Wing of the Canadian Armed Forces Air Element is stationed here, flying Aurora Maritime Patrol aircraft, among others.

An unknown calamity has occurred on the base, leaving a huge crater in the ground, a full 2 kilometres in diametre. The crater is lined in a half metre layer of glassy material, and filled with water. The water is at sea level, approximately 30 metres below ground level (computer record indicate Greenwood to be 28 metres above sea level). There are a number of aircraft on the tarmac, unable to take off and abandoned. They are in similar condition to the Airbus on the highway. A CH-146 helicopter sits at the edge of the precipice, cut in half by whatever created the crater. The edges of the metal are crystalised and all the fabric shows signs of burning. A CC-130 Hercules sits on the edge as well, also severed in half.
