- Born on Rigel VII, Loak's parents returned him to Ferenginar for training ealry in his life due to the vast potential of his genetic inheritance as a 'Gorak', and he was trained there under the auspices of the Grand Nagus. Unfortunately he also inherited the vile temper that accompaines this mixed blessing, and proved unsuitable for such training.
After almost killing a Grand Proxy during a trade mission that went wrong he was exiled from Ferenginar and fled back to Orion VII. There he fell in with a crowd of Orion smugglers, seizing every advantage until he took command of that group. It was then that he came to the attention of the Orion Syndicate, and was 'asked' to join them. Since then he has been rising thorugh the ranks until he now controls a small pirate/smuggling syndicate on their behalf.

- Loak is identical to any other typical Ferengi apart from one major feature - he is a 'Gorak', an albino Ferengi. This is a rare condition, only happening to one in five million Ferengi, and is accompanied by an increased lobe size - this has led to Gorak being revered, and Ferengi legend would have it that their inheritance comes of their parents being too mean to even spare their child any skin pigment.
This 'blessing' however is often accompanied by several drawbacks, most commonly a vicious temper and being overly sensitive to light. Many Gorak become criminals and exiles from society for this reason, and Loak has been no exception.
Loak is foul-tempered and aggressive through and through. He believes in his inherent superiority and demands the utmost respect from all around him. He is a bully, and physically weak at that, but his good tactical sense and ambition have kept him right so far.
