- Jonathan David Norton comes from an alternate future universe where mankind has been transplanted to a lenticular star cluster by a shapeshifting master race known as Benevolents. Centuries later, in the 29th century, humanity rules a small portion of the cluster.
Norton, originally a marine major and later a naval commander was lost and presumed killed when his starfighter squadron was wiped out. Months later, he was rescued from cryosleep by the Federation starship USS Excalibur, which strayed to the cluster via an artificially created singularity. Returning to the 23rd century Federation with the Excalibur, he joined up with the thief Miranda
and later accidentally entered the 24th century while attempting to recreate the singularity.
Together he and Miranda revealed the existence of a Dominion Founder disguised as USS Challenger Captain Kitara Sundown while at Starbase Deep Space Nine in 2373.
