Ilithids (commonly known as mind flayers) are monstrous humanoid aberrations with psionic powers. They live in the moist caverns and cities of the enormous Underdark. Ilithids believe themselves to be the dominant species of the multiverse and use other intelligent creatures as thralls, slaves, and chattel. Ilithids are well known for making thralls out of other intelligent creatures, as well as feasting on their brains.
Ilithids are capable of space travel through the Phlogiston (fluidic space) in their home dimension. The three known as Huey, Dewey and Louie (so-named by Simon delaRue after a 20th century "cartoon") were subdued and enslaved by the Verlegg to operate the Pool Helm when he captured their Nautiloid ship, now the Armida V.
