- Tricia McMillan, usually known as Trillian and sometimes Trillian Astra, was a human astrophysicist and mathematician whom Arthur Dent completely failed to chat up at a party at a flat in Islington.
Trillian left the party with Zaphod Beeblebrox, who was directly responsible for her nickname. The next time she and Arthur met was on a spaceship in deep space, six months after their first encounter and shortly after the Earth had been destroyed by the Vogons to make way for a hyperspace bypass.
Trillian then saved the universe from the Krikketers And defeated the computer Hactar. Eventually she tired of Zaphod and became a Sub-Etha Radio reporter under the name Trillian Astra. Wanting to have a child, she went to a DNA bank near Barnard's Star and secured a sperm sample from the only Homo Sapiens donor to produce a daughter whom she named Random. She eventually found out that the donor was Arthur and landed on the planet Lamuella to leave Random with him. Soon after, she met her other-Earth incarnation, Tricia MacMillan on the duplicate Earth along with Random, Arthur and Ford as it was being destroyed by the Grebulons, upon whom Tricia had been reporting, and they were rescued by Zaphod and in turn Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged. When Wowbagger lost his immortality during a duel with the Norse god Thor, she decided to marry Bowerick Wowbagger the no-longer Infinitely Prolonged.

With her red head scarf knotted in a particular way and her long flowing silky brown dress, she looks vaguely Arabic. Tricia McMillan, her alternate incarnation, is blonde. When the two forms merged when ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha was destroyed, forming a gestalt with blonde hair.
