The Halls of Mirrors were built by Dworkin several centuries ago. There are a total of six hundred and sixty six patterns, each with two levels of forty-eight mirrors each, for a total of 9inety-six mirrors. The mezzanine level looks down on the main level on which is a complex pattern in the stone tiles of the floor.

This pattern is actually a dormant Gate which can be activated and controlled by a sapient being with the correct genetic code. However, not only must the sophont be genetically compatible but must pass a number of veils which test their wilpower.
