- John Howard Patton II is a descendant of the legendary General George S. Patton Jr. From an early age, he was fascinated by the tales of his famous ancestor, as well as other soldiers and warriors throughout history. When he wasn't reading about military history, he was tinkering on an old Starfleet surplus shuttlecraft his father had acquired, or playing footbal with his friends.
John enlisted in Starfleet's Planetary Forces Command at the minimum age of 17, and never looked back. He showed leadership potential early on, training as a section leader. He has spent the last 12 years in Starfleet's Rapid Response Teams. He fought the Cardassians in the last year of the hostilities between the Federation and the Cardassian Union. He was involved in several battles against the Klingons during the brief Federation/Klingon War and the Cardassians, Jem'Hadar and Breen in the Dominion War.

- John Patton is a tall, muscular Human with rugged good looks. His blond hair is beginning to recede, but it's barely noticeable since he tends to crop it to only a few milimetres in length. A steak-'n'-potatoes man, he has taken over the tradition of the weekly barbecue begun by the late Sarah Parker. His barbecue sauce may not be as good as her father's secret sauce, but nobody sizzles a better slab of beef. He is an outgoing, friendly sort with a ready laugh. His musical tastes run to Wagner and Rossini and Klingon Opera, and his favourite holodeck programmes tend to be heroic military stories pitting a lone hero against overwhelming force.
