- Trastam Sendara was regarded as somewhat of a prodigy in astrophysics as a youth. His mentor, Dr. Willin Kaina, was disappointed in
Sendara's decision to enter Starfleet, but grudgingly admits that Starfleet gives an unparalleled opportunity for first-hand observation
offsetting its lower emphasis on pure research. T'Pran of the Vulcan Science Institute, however, regards Sendara's accomplishments with a
more skeptical eye, regularly issuing papers critical of his work.
At the Academy, Sendara trained for deep space exploration, and for his Cadet Cruise was assigned to Starbase Deep Space Nine to
study the Bajoran Wormhole. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the USS Asimov NCC-9903, a Miranda class starship, on a
deep-space exploration mission to the Galactic rim.
Lt. (j.g.) Sendara is the Astrophysics officer at Dyson Base, assigned to the runabout USS Seine to study the instability in Dyson,
the G5n star at the centre of the Sphere.

- Trastam Sendara is typically Betazoid in appearance, with dark hair and black eyes, and of average height and build. He is something of a scientific snob, regarding the "hard" sciences like his own field of Astrophysics as the only true sciences, and constantly refers to other fields as "soft" sciences or, in the case of applied sciences, "mere tinkering." His peers regard him as self-important and pedantic, but acknowledge his expertise in his field. He has little time for such pursuits as art, literature or sports, and does not go out of his way to socialise.
