- Talana Kal had a pretty normal childhood on Betazed, receiving the same training in Betazoid psionics that all its citizens recieve. It was not
until she went to the Academy that her gifts as a projective telepath were noticed and she received advanced psionics training to develop
them. Her cadet cruise was a routine scientific mission.
Talana's first regular tour of duty was a 2 year stint at an archaeological dig on Cheron, a planet where the inhabitants destroyed
themselves in a racial war. This experience triggered in Talana a marked distaste for violence.
Lt, (j.g.) Kal is the A&A, or Archaeology and Anthropology officer for Dyson Base, and is assigned to the runabout USS St
Lawrence. She is extremely excited by the chance to explore such a unique artifact.

popular with the male members of the Dyson Base staff. Her best friend, however, is Ensign Talja Gröen, with whom she shares a chocolate addiction. She often works out with Talja, but undertakes a much less stenuous exercise regime.
