The first set of statistics requiring conversion is the Attributes. These detail the basic capabilities of the character. To convert the data, cross-reference the FASA Attributes with the equivalent ICON Attributes on the conversion tables. Then, the value for each FASA Attribute is converted to its equivalent ICON value.

FASA Attribute  Value    ICON Attribute  Value
STR 50 Fitness + Strength 1
END 60 Fitness + Vitality 2
INT 86 Intellect 5
DEX 54 Coordination 2
CHA 70 Presence 2
LUC 46 (not used)
PSI 29 Psi 1

Once we have the basic values converted, they need to be massaged and adjusted.

  • Strength and Vitality are both Edges of the Fitness Attribute. The basic Fitness value for a Human, and Dr. Driveon's Fitness + Vitality =2, so I decided to apply a -1 to his Strength Edge.
  • His Intellect conversion is 5. I prefer to gravitate conversions towards the basic value, so I decide that the value of 5 reflects an Edge adjustment. The maximum Edge adjustment is +2, so the actual Intellect value becomes 3. I apply the +2 to the doctor's Logic Edge.
  • The doctor's Coordination is 2, which conforms to the basic Coordination value for a Human.
  • Likewise, the basic Presence value for a Human is 2. Humans in ICON normally have a Willpower Edge of +1. I would probably awarded the same Presence value and Willpower Edge to a character who converts to a 3, though - the point is to make the character into one which could have been generated using the basic ICON system.
  • The LUC (Luck) Attribute in the FASA game has no equivalent in ICON, and may be discarded. If you are using my Luck Renown rule (see the House Rules page), a high LUC score may be converted to Renown.
  • Dr. Driveon's Psi converts to a 1, but since there is nothing in his writeup to indicate any psionic talent, I default him to 0.

This gives Dr. Driveon the following ICON Attribute values:

Attributes
Fitness: 2
Strength: -1
Coordination: 2
Intellect: 3
Logic: +2
Presence: 2
Willpower: +1
Psi: 0
