Humanoid
"Human-like" A Humanoid being is an upright biped with two upper manipulatory limbs, two lower transport and a head, usually containing the sensory organs and the brain. Named for their resemblance to the configuration of Terran Humans. [Originally Earth usage]
Iconians
An ancient and highly advanced civilization presumably destroyed some 200,000 years ago by the orbital bombardment of their homeworld, Iconia. Ancient texts called the Iconians "Demons of Air and Darkness", who were said to have the ability to appear at will on far-flung planets without the use of starships.
Neutronium
Matter in which the electron shells are collapsed to form and extremely dense, very strong material. Neutronium must be kept in an intense gravitational field to prevent the electron shells from expanding explosively. The shell of the Dyson Sphere is constructed of carbon-neutronium. It is unknown how the Builders contained the neutronium, as the artificial gravitational field in the Sphere seems to be insufficient to keep the electron shells collapsed. The only other artificial neutronium discovered to date was the so-called Doomsday Machine encountered by the USS Constellation NCC-1017 in 2267.
Personal Energy Weapons Shield
Acronym: PEWS.
An energy shield constructed of a collapsable translucent, perforated polymer shield embedded with an emitter, waveguides and a sarium krellide power pack to project a conformal force-field to protect a Human-sized being from energy weapons fire and small projectile fire.
Phaser
Energy beam weapon, ranging in size from small arms to starship weapons. Retronym for PHASed Energy Rectification.
Photon Torpedo
Warp-capable antimatter-armed missile.
Photorp
Short vernacular form of Photon Torpedo.
Preservers
Colloquial term for an unknown race which rescued primitive cultures from extinction, transplanting them to other planets. Some races believed to have been seeded by the Preservers are: Alpha Centauri, Sigma Iotia II, Magna Roma, Miri's World, Neander, the Vargr homeworld Lair and many others.
Section 31
A covert department of Starfleet Intelligence, not answerable to the chain of command. Originating within the EUSPA Starfleet, after its absorbtion by the UFP Section 31 went underground and successfully hid its existance even from the Federation Council and Starfleet Command. The organization was sanctioned by the original Starfleet Charter, Article 14, Section 31; which allowed for extraordinary measures to be taken in times of extreme threat.
Shuttlecraft
Small short-range vessel often carried as auxiliary vessel on larger starships, often capable of low warp speeds.
Starbase
Non-starship-based Starfleet facility serving as support and administrative base for Starfleet operations in a specified area. Most starbases are designated by number—Starbase 31 or classification and number Starbase Deep Space Six-Alpha; though some are designated by name—Farspace Starbase Earhart or location—Starbase Lya III. Starbases are usually space-based installations, though some are planetside facilities or a mix of both.
Starbase 21
Starfleet facility administering the Dobhran sector.
Starbase 31
Starfleet facility administering the Rachille sector.
Starfleet
Uniformed exploration and defence service of the United Federation of Planets. Starfleet maintains a fleet of starships, starbases and marines.
Starship
Warp-capable vessel capable of independant operations over a long duration. The Danube class runabout is the smallest starship used by the Federation.
Tkon Empire
A massive empire that existed over six hundred thousand years ago, which had a population of trillions and was highly advanced technologically. They had the ability to move entire stars, using planets as outposts for defense.
Unified Field Theory (noun)
In physics, a Unified Field Theory (UFT), occasionally referred to as a Uniform Field Theory, is a type of field theory that defines electromagnetism, the strong and weak nuclear forces and gravitation in terms of a single field. The UFT known as the Grand Unified Theory (GUT) was put forth in 2000 on Earth in a posthumous paper entitled The Theory of Everything by Professor Richard Whittington PhD. under the peudonym Professor Richard Hope PhD.
