Ferenginar, also known as Ferengal, is a Class M planet, the fourth planet of the Ventarus Idrilon system of the Alpha Quadrant, and is the homeworld of the Ferengi, and the seat of government for the Ferengi Alliance.

Many large cities are present around the planet, but the capital city is by far the most impressive city on Ferenginar. Due to the near-constant levels of torrential rain, the buildings are kept under domes, to keep the Ferengi dry. Dominating the capital city is a huge spire, the Tower of Commerce, which marks the Sacred Marketplace, and the seat of government for the Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance.

History
In the 2350s, the Great Monetary Collapse hit Ferenginar. Inflation soared, the currency was devalued. In 2374, Ferenginar descended into financial chaos after Zek amended the Bill of Opportunities to allow females equal status to males. There was so much buying and selling the communications grid shut down and a communications blackout occurred. After being helped back into power by Nilva, Zek continued his reforms including the introduction of tax, labor rights and the banning of the dumping of industrial waste. The newly established Economic Congress also passed some new laws, including making monopolies illegal.
