The Qo'noS Sector is the beating heart of the Klingon Empire, centred on the planet Qo'noS, a large, green Class M planet, usually just known as the Homeworld (juHyuQ). It is from the Great Hall (vaS'a') in the Imperial First City (veng wa'DIch) on the Homeworld that the High Council, led by the Chancellor, rules the Klingon Empire.

Site of Federation victory during the Four Years War |

In late 2292, Qo'noS was nearly devastated when Praxis (pIraQSIS), a moon which housed the systems primary power generation station, exploded, contaminating the atmosphere. Without Federation technological assistance, Qo'noS would have ceased to be inhabitable by 2340, as the Klingon Empire had sunk all its resources into military development. This assistance was the cornerstone of the future Federation/Klingon alliance, beginning with the Khitomer (QI'tomer) Accords.
