Starfleet Uniforms & Insignia

The current Starfleet uniform consists of a branch-coloured pullover tunic with a ribbed collar. The tunic is worn with matching black trousers and black ankle-height boots. Branch colours are gold for Command, blue for Sciences, tan for Operations and grey for Marines. All personnel within a department wear the branch colour of the parent branch.

The ship's insignia is worn on the left breast of the tunic. The insignia of the USS Enterprise is a stylised arrowhead, rendered in gold with a black outline. Centred in the arrowhead is the branch symbol: a star for Command, a planetary sphere for Sciences, a coiled lightning bolt for Operations and a chess knight for Marines.

Insignia

Officers' rank insignia is worn on the cuff of the uniform. The Captain of a vessel wears two solid gold rings, senior officers wear one gold ring, and junior officers and below wear none.

Landing parties are issued communicators, tricorders and, when conditions warrant, laser pistols or phaser rifles.

A variety of medical instruments are issued to doctors for the treatment of injuries and wounds on landing party missions.

For missions with hazardous atmosphere which do not require a spacesuit, a breathing mask will be issued.
