The ship's insignia is worn on the left breast of the tunic and incorporates the personal communicator.

Officers' rank insignia is worn on the right breast of the tunic. Starfleet has returned to the pre-2381 rank badges.

Landing parties are issued communicators, tricorders and, when conditions warrant, phasers. Phasers come in three varieties: the concealable hand phaser, the pistol phaser, and the phaser rifle. Phasers can be set for varying effects, from Stun to Heat, Disrupt, or Disintegrate.
