 Deck Six is limited to the Secondary Hull and contains the ship's Torpedo and Probe Launchers, as well as the lower level of the Main Deflector. The ship's Planetary Sensor partly obstructs to forward Torpedo Launchers, so a high-intensity forcefiels protects this area from impacts by Torpedoeds and Probes. In addition all Torpedoes and Probes are programmed to immediately dive tem metres after launch to avoid hitting the saucer, and Torpedoes do not arm until at least a kilometre from the vessel. Tractor beams act as a backup to this protection, providing triple redundancy. Torpedoes and Probes are not usually stored on the Launcher level aside from a small ready reserve. |
