 The Buckner class Scout is a multimission Scout vessel which can do the jobs of stellar exploration, planetary surveys or behind-enemy-lines reconaissance equally well. It is classed as a Armed Scout vessel. It can fire either photon torpedoes or probes from its four launch tubes; in addition it has 14 Type IX phaser arrays. It carries a Type 6 shuttlecraft, two Type 15 shuttlepods and four Augmented Personell Module (APM) worksuits. It follows the standard Starfleet ship layout of a saucer section, a small secondary hull, and two Warp nacelles on pylons. It has 20 ASRV lifeboats each seating 8 persons including crew. The ship's complement is 125 crew, including 12 officers, 12 CPO and higher NCO's and 101 ratings and petty officers. The ship's commander is usually of Captain rank, and the Bosun (senior enlisted man) is a Master Chief. True to Starfleet standard practice, the bridge module is atop the saucer for easy swap-out during refit. Unusually, the hangar bay is mounted ahead of the bridge on deck 2, facing forward. The secondary hull is essentially a Miranda rollbar mount-style torpedo bay with a main deflector between the two forward launch tubes. Although the tubes are capable od handling Quantum torpedoes, the ship does not normally carry these weapons. The Buckner class Scout is 210 metres long and has 6 decks.
