The Ranger class scout is a study in minimalism—a simple saucer and a pair of warp nacelles. A case of "form-follows-function", the nacelles greatly resemble those of the much larger Constitution class Heavy Cruiser refit. The saucer lacks the distinctive bridge module, as the bridge itself is submerged into the hull. a large raised shiel-like area in front houses the shuttle bay, phaser mounts and deflectors.
