The Plantagent class Star Liners are named after one of the early royal families of England on old Earth. Notable Kings of the Plantagenet line include Henry II, Richard I, John I and Richard III. The King Richard is named after the second of the Angevin kings, Richard I, known as Cœur de Lion or the Lionheart. The design planform is loosely based on the old Stellarford class star liner, which set a new high-water mark in opulence and luxury. The King Richard, under the command of Captain Francesca Beaulieu strives to match that legendary staus. Customers agree that it has met that mark. Lacking the Stellarford's command tower, the Plantagenet retains the æsthetic of a surfboard with warp nacelles.

The King Richard star liner plies the Triangle spacelanes regularly, a favourite of those in the know.
